Little Shop of horrors - October/november 2019

The Poplar Pike Playhouse is excited to announce its deviously delicious fall production, Little Shop of Horrors. This comedy musical is based on the 1960 movie by Roger Corman and book by Howard Ashman with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Ashman. The story follows Seymour, a down on his luck employee at a flower shop who acquires a mysterious plant. The plant has the appearance and characteristics of a venus fly trap. However, this plant not only eats insects, but it seems to also have a preference for humans.


Sister Act - February/March 2019

The Poplar Pike Playhouse is proud to announce Sister Act will make its debut on the PPP stage in February. Based on the 1992 film of the same title, Sister Act tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a Philadelphia disco diva who dreams of making it big. When she witnesses her boyfriend commit murder, Cartier is put in a witness protection program and hides out in a convent full of nuns where she learns there may be more to life than glitz and glamour.


CLUE: On STAGE - DECEMBER 2019

The Poplar Pike Playhouse is excited to announce its upcoming fall production Clue: On Stage. Based on the classic board game and movie directed by Jonathan Lynn, everyone’s favorite ‘whodunnit’  comedy follows six “colorful” characters who are blackmailed for their scandalous deeds. Find out what happens when these individuals are invited to dinner by their mysterious blackmailer, Ms. Boddy.


Sweeney Todd - February/March 2018

The Poplar Pike Playhouse’s spring musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is ready to open its doors for opening night. This ominous musical follows the path of a barber, Sweeney Todd, who was sent away to solitude by Judge Turpin for a crime that he did not commit. Todd returns to get his revenge and try to restore the family that was taken away from him. With his partner in crime, Mrs. Lovett, his revenge has no bounds.

      The satirical comedy, written by Mark Twain and adapted by David Ives, follows a fictional version of the great French painter Jean-Francois Millet. While Millet struggles to meet the demands of a cynical art dealer, Millet’s inner circle advises him to fake his death in order to reach fame and stardom as an artist. Millet must decide whether to be dead and rich or alive and dejected.


THE MYSTERY OF EDWID DROOD - FebRUARY/MARCH 2017

Music, Book, and Lyrics by Rupert Holmes

          Derived from the unfinished novel written by Charles Dickens, the “show within a show” orders the actors to portray two characters, the actors and actresses from the Music Hall Royale and the characters they play in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. The musical follows the story of Edwin Drood, a rich and popular young man portrayed by the famous male impersonator, Alice Nutting. Drood is set to be married to the beautiful Rosa Bud, portrayed by young actress Deirdre Peregrine; however, as the show progresses, other male admirers come to light creating turmoil for the two lovers. In the confusion among the characters, Drood disappears and is presumed to be dead presenting the audience with the question, “Who murdered Edwin Drood?” The answer to the murder mystery is decided by the audience, who will make numerous plot-altering decisions throughout the show.

The catch is Ariel only has three days to seal the spell with a kiss from her prince. If she can’t, she becomes Ursula’s slave for eternity.

The 25th annual putnam county spelling bee - October 2014
